RICHWOODS, Mo. (AP) — A Missouri trooper has shot an armed man who authorities say threatened to shoot a 5-year-old child.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says deputies received a 911 call that the man was headed to a school in Lonedell to shoot the child. Witnesses say the man walked around the child’s home with a long gun. Authorities say they found the man at his home and that he was armed with a rifle.
They say the Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper shot the man after he walked outside of his Richwoods home with the rifle.
No other injuries were reported.
The man was taken to an area hospital in an unknown condition. Authorities haven’t released the trooper or the man’s identities.
