Beau Musser was expected to return to work Monday at the St Joseph School District. The district’s chief financial officer was placed on administrative leave more than seven months ago, shortly after notifying members of the school board of stipends handed out to top administrators without board approval.

Two weeks ago the district announced it had asked Musser to return to work starting November 17. The district also announced a law firm was retained to investigate district officials’ claims of sexual harassment by Musser, and Musser’s claims of unlawful retaliation.

After being placed on leave, Musser filed a lawsuit against the district, claiming the district had manufactured claims of sexual harassment.

Musser claimed he was let go for his persistent questions about a quarter million dollars in administrative stipends that were paid without the knowledge or approval of the school board.

The district later asked for, and received, approval for those and other stipends.

The St Joseph branch of the National Education Association honored Musser for with its “Integrity and Courage” award.
