
The St. Joseph Police Department has identified a man shot at N. Belt Walmart Monday night.
According to Capt. Jeff Wilson, 29-year-old Richard Elledge was shot in the abdomen. Elledge was transported by private vehicle to Mosaic Life Care and underwent emergency surgery.
Wilson said the injury was believed to be non-life threatening.
Officers responded to the shooting call outside the store just after 8 p.m.
According to Officer Keith Dudley an altercation took place inside the store between two men and then spilled out into the parking lot. After the fight became physical Dudley said one man pulled a gun and fired a shot.

Saint Joseph Police took a 56-year-old man into custody just before 1 a.m. Tuesday for investigation of first-degree assault after releasing photos taken from surveillance footage at Walmart of two individuals wanted for questioning in connection with the shooting.
Wilson said and investigation is ongoing.
