
A St. Joseph man was sentenced with probation Thursday for stealing evidence from the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office .
Brett O’Dell, 28, a former deputy of the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, pleaded guilty in November for stealing more than $5,000 cash and prescription drugs from the Caldwell County evidence vault.
According to online court documents O’Dell was sentenced Thursday to two seven-year sentences for counts of theft/stealing a class C felony and possession of controlled substances, also a class C felony. His sentences were suspended and has been placed on five years of supervised probation.
O’Dell was also required to surrender his Peace Officer License and to pay restitution.
