ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Missouri Western baseball team scored at least two runs in four straight innings to defeat Lincoln University 17-2 on Friday afternoon. MWSU scored five runs in the third and seven runs in the fourth. The Griffons tallied 16 hits in their victory.

Cosimo Cannella led the Griffons going 3-4 on the day including two runs and hitting four RBIs. Five other players added two hits on the day. D’Andre Heggie blasted a three-run shot in his only hit of the day for a home run in the bottom of the fifth.

Grant Woods was extremely effective in his six innings of pitching. He gave up two hits and allowed one run but also added eight strikeouts.

The Lincoln defense had five errors on the day and MWSU attacked starting pitcher Trevor Schnieder for nine hits including seven runs.
