KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Northwest Missouri State softball junior Kendle Schieber was named the MIAA/AstroTurf Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. This is the second time Schieber has been given this honor.
The junior threw a pair of gems over the weekend to help the Bearcats to a 3-1 road trip. Schieber surrendered just one unearned run on five hits over 13 innings while striking out 14 batters and walking only one. The Conception Junction, Mo. native held opponents to a .125 batting average and allowed just three runners to reach scoring position.
Schieber opened the weekend with a sparkling one-hit outing against Pittsburg State in which she retired 11 straight batters to seal the victory. She followed that performance with a four-hit shutout on Saturday against Missouri Southern. Schieber recorded seven strikeouts in each contest.
