A 20-year-old Topeka man is scheduled to appear in a federal courtroom Tuesday on charges stemming from his alleged plot to detonate an explosive device at the Fort Riley Army Post April 10.
John T Booker was charged by a U.S. grand jury on Friday.
He’s charged with attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction (explosives), one count of attempting to damage property by means of an explosive and one count of attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), which is a foreign terrorist organization.
If convicted, Mr Booker would face up to life in prison.
An initial appearance is scheduled before Magistrate Judge James P. O’Hara at 9:30 a.m. April 21 in Courtroom 223, in the federal courthouse in Kansas City, Kan. The hearing is for the purpose of informing the defendant of the charges in the grand jury indictment returned last week.
