A Nodaway County Sheriff’s Deputy was injured in a crash Sunday as he was responding to an emergency call.

According to the crash report, Deputy Douglas Lager was south of Ravenwood on his way to an emergency call at 12:50pm Sunday. As he crested a hill at US-136 and 290th Street he encountered a motorist towing a trailer turning left across the highway.

Deputy Lager’s patrol car crossed the center line to avoid hitting the other vehicle, but he was unable to avoid the trailer. The squad car hit the trailer, then left the highway, hit a ditch and rolled onto its side.

Deputy Lager was transported to St Francis Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and released. The other motorist was not injured.
