
St. Joseph will ring with the sounds of a men’s capella and barbershop music this summer.
The Voices of American will host its 3-2-1 Voices-in-one summer concert Friday, June 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Cathedral St. Joseph.
The concert will feature 3 Quartets including Harmonium, a Kansas City-based quartet, who recently qualified for the international barbershop quartet competition ranking 14th in the world. Bassline, a local group, will bring their fun and energetic personality to the stage as they sing. Old Standards, a St Joseph and Kansas City-based quartet was recently crowned the Central States District Seniors Quartet Champion. Having formed in the fall of 2014.
Two Award Winning Choruses will also take the stage. Central Standard is a men’s a cappella ensemble from Kansas City. They are among the very elite and will be competing in the Barbershop Harmony Society’s International competition in July where they currently rank 4th in the world. Central Standard will be performing a variety of a cappella styles of music which may include their contest set for the international competition. The second of the award winning choruses taking the stage will be St Joseph’s own Voices of America chorus. Coming off their recent division win in the Central States District Spring Contest the Voices of America will be bringing all new music to the concert including songs by the Beatles, Elvis Presley, Beach Boys and James Taylor.
