St. Joseph rallies for walk-off win against Nevada

riggertMustangsThe St. Joseph Mustangs stayed unbeaten on the season as they rallied for a 4-3 victory over Nevada Saturday night inside Phil Welch stadium.

St. Joe’s summer college baseball team fell behind 3-1 in the eighth inning before they started their comeback.  Ramsey Scott had a two-out RBI single in the eight to score Orencio Fisher but the Mustangs still trailed by one run in the final inning.

After Trent Hill flew out to left field, St. Joseph catcher Francisco Alvarez hit a solo home run to tie the game.

Humberto Medina came on in relief to throw a perfect 10th inning and then Fisher led off the bottom of the inning with a triple in the bottom of the ninth.  Anthony Maselli drove him in with a sacrifice fly and the Mustangs are now 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in the MINK League.

Fisher and Alvarez each had two hits and two runs scored to lead the offense.

Trent Kinney started for St. Joe and received a no-decision as he went 7.0 innings and allowed just two runs on five hits.  He struck out four and walked two.

The Mustangs play their first road game of the season Sunday at Nevada.  The first pitch is at 7:00 p.m. and it’ll be broadcast on 680 KFEQ and here on StJosephPost.com.
