The 21st annual Juneteenth Festival kicked off Friday in St. Joseph and will run through the weekend.
According to Juneteenth.com, Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States.
The St. Joseph Juneteenth Parade will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. It will start at 28th and Noyes and travel down Sylvanie St. to finish at the John Lucas Park where the event will be held at 409 South 18th St.
There will be vendors, pony rides, drill team performances and jazz entertainers.
Festivities on Sunday will start at 2 p.m. with a picnic and finish around 6 p.m.
