Cleanup and track repairs continue after a train with 31 coal cars derailed near Amazonia, Missouri.
Authorities are investigating what caused the train to jump the tracks around 3 a.m. Saturday. There were no injuries. The train was heading southwest south of Amazonia when it derailed.
K-highway was closed for several hours but reopened Saturday.
Andrew County Sheriff Bryan Atkins says he was told by railroad officials it could take up to 48 hours to clear and repair the railroad. Crews on Saturday afternoon were unloading multiple tractor-trailers of railroad ties near the scene so repairs could be made. The railroad continues its investigation into what caused the incident.
