Mustangs fall at home Saturday to Sedalia 6-3

riggertMustangsThe St. Joseph Mustangs had their three-game winning streak snapped Saturday night inside Phil Welch Stadium as they fell to Sedalia, 6-3.

St. Joe’s summer college baseball team is now 0-2 against the Bombers this season but they’re 15-4 overall and 12-4 in the MINK League.

The Mustangs jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Ramsey Scott ground out that scored Orencio Fisher.  Sedalia scored a run in the second to tie the game and then St. Joseph took a 3-1 in the third.

Jacob Richardson had an RBI double in the inning and Josh Cassidy drove in Richardson with a single.

The Bombers then took control of the game with a five-run fifth inning.  Four of the runs in the inning were scored off Mustangs’ starter Trent Kinney, who failed to record an out in the fifth.

He suffered the loss as he drops to 1-1.  Kinney allowed five runs and five runs in 4+ innings of work.

Cassidy and Jordan Powell led the offense with two hits each.

St. Joe is on the road Sunday as they travel to Chillicothe to play the Mudcats for the first time this season.  The first pitch is at 7:00 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on 680 KFEQ AM and here on StJosephPost.com.
