An Elwood, Kansas woman charged with murder appeared in a Buchanan County courtroom Monday.

Kelli Hoard is one of three people charged with the fatal stabbing of Richard Berry in April. Circuit Judge Patrick Robb scheduled Ms Hoard’s case for trial setting July 17.

Police found Mr Berry’s body in the Third Fork of the Platte River near Easton April 25. Officials believe he was taken to the remote location in a robbery attempt.

He was stabbed multiple times and then dumped in the river.  According to court documents, Ms Hoard used two knives to kill Mr Berry.

Ms Hoard is being held without bond after a judge ruled she posed a danger to the community.
