The Salvation Army said fans donated for those in need are quickly going out the door.
Wednesday the agency received a donation of 55 box fans from Westlake ACE Hardware to give to those in need. As of noon Thursday 15 fans had already been given away.
“Heat poses a very real danger to the elderly, families with young children and those with medical issues,” said LeeAnn Hobson with the Salvation Army. “Fans are critical to keeping those without air conditioning or who are on a fixed income comfortable and safe during the hot summer months.”
The Salvation Army located at 602 Messanie St. is providing the fans to qualified applicants on a first come, first serve basis.
