The St. Joseph Mustangs will open the 81st Annual NBC World Series on Saturday as they play the Hutchinson (KS) Monarchs at 8:00 a.m. inside Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
St. Joe’s summer college baseball team is 35-15 this season and they won their fourth MINK League Championship in the last five seasons.
Hutchinson is 22-14 this summer and they play in the Kansas Collegiate Baseball League. They finished as the runners-up to Valley Center in the KCBL and both teams qualified for the NBC World Series.
The Mustangs are 10-8 all-time in Wichita with two top-six finishes. They did play Hutchinson in 2011 and were eliminated from the tournament that season by the Monarchs as St. Joseph lost 7-3.
St. Joe and Hutch will play the first game of the day Saturday at 8:00 a.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN 1550 and here on StJosephPost.com.
