Mustangs open NBC World Series Saturday morning against Hutchinson

riggertMustangsThe St. Joseph Mustangs will open the 81st Annual NBC World Series on Saturday as they play the Hutchinson (KS) Monarchs at 8:00 a.m. inside Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

St. Joe’s summer college baseball team is 35-15 this season and they won their fourth MINK League Championship in the last five seasons.

Hutchinson is 22-14 this summer and they play in the Kansas Collegiate Baseball League.  They finished as the runners-up to Valley Center in the KCBL and both teams qualified for the NBC World Series.

The Mustangs are 10-8 all-time in Wichita with two top-six finishes.  They did play Hutchinson in 2011 and were eliminated from the tournament that season by the Monarchs as St. Joseph lost 7-3.

St. Joe and Hutch will play the first game of the day Saturday at 8:00 a.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN 1550 and here on StJosephPost.com.
