A workshop and public meeting is planned next month during which officials hope to get a better idea of what residents want to see in such a park.
Earlier this year, the city selected a location near 14th and Laramie streets, the site of an old baseball field. Supporters of converting the site say there’s water on site and it’s near a residential area with parking nearby. Officials say they hope to have the fencing completed by late summer.
The public meeting is planned at Atchison City Hall, in the City Commission Room, on August 11 starting at 7pm.
