An Excelsior Springs man will serve ten years in federal prison for his role in a conspiracy to make methamphetamine. Anthony Grayson was arrested in July of 2013 after he called police for help and gave them permission to enter his house.

Federal prosecutors say Grayson’s co-defendants were homeless and were staying at Grayson’s home. But Mr Grayson says Co-defendant Glenn Allen DiFalco had threatened him.

Grayson met officers about a half-mile from his residence. He said he feared for his life because Mr DiFalco had a gun. He gave the officers permission to enter his house and arrest DiFalco.

As officers were speaking to Grayson, DiFalco and a third co-defendant Clarissa Cooper approached in a Dodge truck. The vehicle abruptly turned and drove away and officers began pursuing them. When DiFalco’s vehicle stopped in a dead-end cul-de-sac, Cooper fled from the vehicle on foot and was chased by officers, who apprehended and arrested her. DiFalco was also arrested.

Officials say Mr DiFalco’s truck was so completely filled with debris and clutter that officers couldn’t adequately search it at the scene, but they did turn up an airsoft gun, drug paraphernalia, and some meth. They impounded the vehicle, and an additional search turned up approximately 80,000 “Cold Buster” pills containing a key ingredient in the manufacture of methamphetamine.

Officers returned to Grayson’s home following the vehicle pursuit and observed, in plain view, numerous items of drug paraphernalia commonly used to smoke and manufacture methamphetamine. They also found an explosive device believed to be a booby trap.

Co-defendants DiFalco, 52, and Cooper, 47, have pleaded guilty to their roles in the conspiracy. DiFalco was sentenced to seven years and six months in federal prison without parole and Cooper was sentenced to time served.

On March 3, 2015, Grayson was found guilty at trial of participating in a conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine, attempting to manufacture meth, possessing pseudoephedrine to manufacture meth and maintaining a drug house. He was sentenced by U.S. Chief District Judge Greg Kays to 10 years in federal prison without parole. Grayson has been in federal custody since his initial arrest on July 16, 2013.
