Northwest Missouri State releases 2015-2016 men’s basketball schedule

Northwest2013riggertMARYVILLE, Mo. – Northwest Missouri State University head men’s basketball coach Ben McCollum has announced the Bearcats’ 2015-16 schedule. This year’s slate includes 14 home games inside Bearcat Arena. Northwest has won the past two MIAA regular season championships and has advanced the the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2013-14 and 2014-15.

Northwest opens the season on Friday, Nov. 13 against Upper Iowa in St. Joseph, Mo., at 5:30 p.m. The following night in St. Joseph, Northwest takes on Wayne State at 5:30 p.m. A highly anticipated rematch of last season’s NCAA second round takes place on Thursday, Nov. 19, as Northwest travels to Sioux Falls, S.D., to take on Augustana. The Bearcats beat the Aggies, 66-65, who were serving as the NCAA opening round hosts last year.

The Bearcats will play three non-conference games at home against Central Methodist (Nov. 24), Kansas Wesleyan (Nov. 27) and Avila (Dec. 31). MIAA play opens with three road game beginning on Dec. 3 at Southwest Baptist. The MIAA home opener for Northwest will be on Saturday, Dec. 12, against Pittsburg State at 3:30 p.m.

The regular season finale will take place in Maryville, Mo., on Saturday, Feb. 27, against Southwest Baptist at 3:30 p.m. The MIAA Tournament is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, March 1, with the Kansas City, Mo., rounds taking place on March 3-6.
