Pony Express Run to benefit United Way Campaign

pony express runThis year’s Pony Express Run hosted by the Junior League of St. Joseph will replace the United Way of Greater St. Joseph’s Walk. Run. LIVE UNITED event to raise funds for the United Way.

The Pony Express 5K and half-marathon will be held Sept. 26 starting at 8 a.m. in downtown St. Joseph.

“We are optimistic that offering a half-marathon will bring a mix of people from both inside and outside of our community,” said Anitra Svendsen, Junior League Ways and Means Chairman.

This year’s agency that will benefit from the run is the United Way.

We are excited about such a natural partnership in our community to positively impact the lives of women and children in the area,” Svendsen said.

The United Way kicked off its 2015 campaign Thursday.  This year’s goal is to raise around $3.1 million dollars to support its 18 partner agencies and seven initiatives.

Anyone interested in volunteering at the race is asked to contact Kylee Strough, President of United Way, at [email protected].
