Mishaps with power poles and power lines affected early-morning traffic Wednesday.

Officers were diverting some traffic at Stockyards Expressway and Alabama Street. Motorists were not allowed to turn onto Alabama. A downed power line in that area was giving off sparks.

It did not fall across the railroad tracks, as was initially reported.

Another incident caused some concern in the parking lot at the Food Mart at 4702 King Hill. A semi hit a power pole in the lot shortly after 4am.

There were no injuries reported. Crews were dispatched to resolve both situations and traffic resumed as normal.
