An investigation into a threat of violence against Missouri Western University has been found unsubstantiated by police.
Missouri Western State University sent an email out to students and faculty just before noon which said:
“Shortly before 11 a.m., Missouri Western police received a report of a threat of violence against the campus. A person of interest was detained by St. Joseph Police off campus, and there is no ongoing threat at this time.”
St. Joseph Police, Missouri State Highway Patrol and University police responded to look into the incident and SJPD Capt. Jeff Willson said it was quickly found that the threat was unsubstantiated.
“It’s something we have take take seriously in this day and age,” said Kent Heier with Missouri Western.
