Several open houses are being held to display new additions and renovation to St. Joseph fire station #4.

Open houses will be held Sept. 22, 23, and 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. at fire station #4 located at 3418 Ashland. The St. Joseph Fire Department said the public is invited and refreshments will be served.

The department is also encouraging citizens to enrolled in a Citizens Fire Academy which is scheduled for the five Thursdays in October from 6-9pm, and begins October 1. Reservations and a background check are required. Class size ranges from 8-12 people. Topics for the academy will cover everything from firefighting, water rescue, extrication, EMS, and includes a trip to the fire museum.
