Thirty-seven St. Joseph School District students were selected for the Northwest District Honor Choir. A record fifteen students were from Benton High School, eighteen from Central High School and four from Lafayette High School.
A total of 198 students were selected for the ensemble, from over 30 participating school districts in Northwest Missouri.
“It is a great honor to be selected to represent this fine musical ensemble,” said Kevin Griffin, Coordinator of Secondary Fine Arts for the St. Joseph School District. “Our students continue to show great talent and dedication in the field of music – this audition is evidence of that fact.”
Students auditioned Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015. They have been preparing for the audition since the beginning of the school year.
The Northwest District Honor Choir will perform at Platte County High School in Platte City on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015. Students selected for this choir will have the opportunity to audition for the Missouri All-State Choir on that date.
The Missouri All-State Choir will perform at the annual Missouri Music Educators Association Conference at the Tan-Tar-A Resort in Lake of Ozarks, Missouri on Jan. 31, 2016.
