Update 11:43 a.m. – A man is dead and a woman injured is now in police custody on unrelated charges after police responded to a motel in St Joseph Monday morning .

According to Capt. Jeff Wilson with the St Joseph Police Department around 2 a.m. officers responded to Motel 6 located at 4021 Frederick in reference to a disturbance/assault investigation.

“Upon arrival officers discovered two subjects with what appeared to be puncture wounds,” Wilson said.

52-year-old man, and a 39-year-old woman were both treated by EMS and transported to the hospital. The man was pronounced deceased at the hospital a short time later.

Wilson said the woman was treated and released from the hospital.

“She is currently in custody on unrelated charges,” he said. “Detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident.”

5:26 a.m. – A dead body was found in Saint Joseph early Monday morning in a room at Motel 6.

Emergency responders  were called to 4021 Frederick at 2 am to check a man who was unresponsive.  Police Sergeant Brett Kelly says the white male was taken to Mosaic Life Care and pronounced dead.

A female in the room was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.  Detectives and crime scene investigators were called out.
