The story of a playground bully caught on cell-phone video has been picked up by national news media.
The viral video depicts a young girl repeatedly punching and kicking another girl, and dragging her by the hair some 30 feet or more across the asphalt pavement.
The St Joseph School District confirms the alleged bully has been arrested and charged with assault. They say it’s important for the district, local parents and the community to work together to prevent bullying.
The incident occurred on school grounds, but after school hours, on a Sunday. Nevertheless, officials stress that we should be working to prevent these incidents no matter when they occur.
Here’s the full text of the school district statement: “The St. Joseph School District does not condone this type of behavior no matter when it occurs. The situation happened after school hours on school district property last Sunday. The student has been arrested for assault and the case is now in the court system. It is important that we partner with parents and community members to prevent bullying and fighting no matter what time it occurs. One of our district priorities is to keep our students safe and educate them with programs designed to eradicate bullying.”
We’re not posting the video because it involves minor-age children.
