Kansas City, Mo. – The MIAA announced its weekly football honors Monday.  Northwest Missouri’s Brady Bolles has been named the MIAA/AstroTurf Football Offensive Athlete of the Week, Emporia State’s Kole Schankie earned Defensive Athlete of the Week honors with UCM’s Jaylen Zachery earning Special Team Athlete of the Week.

MIAA/AstroTurf Offensive Athlete of the Week
Brady Bolles, QB, Northwest Missouri

Bolles passed for a career-high 329 yards on 28-of-39 passing with three touchdowns to lead the Bearcats to a Homecoming victory over Fort Hays State, 45-24. Bolles completed passes to 10 different receivers on the day. His long pass completion was a 69-yard downfield strike to Shawn Bane Jr. The 6-3 senior quarterback is a native of Lincoln, Neb. where he competed at North Star High School.

Kole Schankie, LB, Emporia State

Schankie had a career-high 14 tackles as Emporia State held Missouri Western scoreless until there were just 28 seconds left in a 17-3 Homecoming victory for the Hornets. It was just the third game this season an MIAA team has been held without a touchdown and the first time the Hornets have held an opponent with out a touchdown since a 13-0 win over Lindenwood at their 2013 Homecoming. His sack on a Griffon third down led to a punt and ESU would eventually score the first points of the game on the ensuing drive. He forced and recovered a fumble at the end of the third quarter and four plays later the Hornets would score their second touchdown to take a 14-0 fourth quarter lead. The 6-1 junior linebacker is a native of Madison, Kan. where he competed at Madison High School.

MIAA/AstroTurf Special Teams Athlete of the Week
Jaylen Zachery, PR, Central Missouri

Jaylen Zachery provided the Mules with a spark on special teams when he returned an NSU punt 79 yards for a score in the second quarter. Zachery returned two punts on the afternoon for 84 yards, averaging 42 yards per return. The 5-11 sophomore is a native of Richton Park, Ill. where he competed at Rich South High School.
