Wreck shuts down I-229 in St. Joseph

UPDATE 10/27: Crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation will inspect the raised portion of I-229 near downtown St. Joseph for possible damaged caused by a crash and fire on the highway Monday afternoon.

The drivers were treated for minor injuries after a dump truck clipped the rear of a passenger vehicle. The accident shut down northbound traffic on the interstate for several hours.

10/26/15 – A crash on the I-229 bridge in St. Joseph has caused the closure of the highway.

The St. Joseph Police Department said I-229 has been shutdown to northbound traffic at 3:53 Monday afternoon.  That’s just north of 36 highway on the double-decker bridge.

According to one of our listeners there is a dump truck on fire on top of the bridge and a car with its rear wheels hanging off of the side.20151026_154647
