JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Jay Nixon today appointed Karen Leader, of Maryville, as the new Nodaway County Clerk. The position became vacant upon the resignation of former Clerk Beth Walker.

Leader, a Democrat, has served as the deputy clerk for Nodaway County since 2003 and has served as the interim clerk since the resignation of Walker. She also has provided seasonal assistance in the County Assessor’s office for several years to enter values on assessment sheets. Leader is a Maryville native.

“Karen Leader is familiar with the operations of the Clerk’s office and will be able to transition from her interim status to becoming the County Clerk,” Gov. Nixon said. “I am confident she will ably serve the people of Nodaway County in this position.”
