The St. Joseph Habitat for Humanity has canceled its annual Zombie Walk due to low pre-registrations it’s partially attributing to the World Series.
The agency made the decision Wednesday to cancel the annual fundraising event. Last year around 100 participants dressed up like Zombies, stumbled crawled or walked their was through downtown to raise money to benefit Habitat for Humanity. But Melissa Koch with Habitat said this year there were only around 20 people pre-registered as of Wednesday with only a few days left.
The walk had been scheduled to take place Friday. She attributes the low-turnout to Royals fever, high school football play-offs and other long-standing Halloween events competing with the walk.
