The Chillicothe Fire/EMS department said its new ambulance will save money on fuel.

The 2015 Mercedes Benz Sprinter Type III Brace is replacing a 2011 Chevrolet unit that had 159,000 miles on it.

Chillicothe Fire Chief Darrell Wright said the unit was purchased for $151,585 by the Livingston County Ambulance District.

“The unit is expected to use 30 percent less fuel than the unit it is replacing,” Wright said.
