Prison inmate dies in custody

Western Missouri Correctional CenterAn autopsy is pending after an inmate serving four years for a pair of traffic offenses died in custody at a prison in Cameron. Authorities do not suspect foul play is involved in the death of Jeffrey Rea, 46.

According to a news release from the Missouri Department of Corrections, the St Louis man was serving a four-year prison sentence for operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license out of Franklin County, and driving while revoked/suspended out of Lafayette County.

He was received into the Department of Corrections on August 28, 2014, and was serving time at the Western Missouri Correctional Center in Cameron.

Mr Rea was pronounced dead at the Cameron Regional Medical Center at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015.
