Sobriety checkpoints may be conducted throughout the month of December according to the Platte County Sheriff’s Office.
The Department held a checkpoint on Nov. 7 and made fourteen arrests out of a total of 358 vehicles checked from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Prairie View Road and Crystal Pool. Five of those arrests made were for suspicion of DWI.
The office said more checkpoints could be held throughout December.
Sheriff Mark Owen reminds motorists who may encounter a DWI Checkpoint the delay they experience will be brief. If a driver is suspected of being intoxicated, he/she will be asked to complete the Standard Field Sobriety Tests.
“We appreciate the cooperation from the public as we conduct DWI Checkpoints and take drunk drivers off our roads,” Sheriff Owen said.
