A man serving a life sentence for killing two people and seriously wounding another over losing a dance contest has died behind bars in Cameron.
62-year-old Robyn Bonstell was pronounced dead at the Crossroads Correctional Center Friday at 7:07 p.m.
Bonstell was serving a life without parole sentence for two counts of first-degree murder, three counts of armed criminal action, and one count of first-degree burglary and first-degree assault from St. Louis County.
According to the Nevada Daily Mail in 1986 Bonstell was accused of going on a shooting rampage at his former girlfriend’s home killing the woman, her teen-age son and critically wounding her young daughter. Judith Lynch, 37 and her son, Shawn Lynch, 14 were killed and Shannon Renee, 11 was critically injured. The Nevada Daily Mail reported Bonstell told police he was upset because he came in fourth at a dance contest and Lynch dancing with somebody else won the contest.
Bonstell was received in the Missouri Department of Corrections on July 26, 1988. He is reported to have died of natural causes.
