More than 20,000 pounds of meat has been donated to the Second Harvest Community Food Bank by Triumph Foods.
It’s the second large donation of meat in a year’s time. Second Harvest said six months ago, Triumph donated nearly 17,000 pounds of meat to the food bank for distribution.
The donation includes pork ribs, loins, hams and other cuts of meat and is enough food to help provide over 16,600 meals across the 19 counties Second Harvest serves in Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas. This area currently has more than 54,000 individuals who aren’t sure where they will get their next meal.
“Second Harvest is extremely pleased to accept the donation from Triumph Foods. When a local producer donates such a large quantity it is a great benefit to our partner agencies and the communities they serve,” said Chad Higdon, Executive Director at Second Harvest. “Because their generosity many families within our service territory will have access to high quality protein during this time of the year. We look forward to our continued relationship with Triumph Foods.”
