
Bond has been raised for a St. Joseph man charged with shooting and killing another man at a home on Felix St.
During an arraignment Tuesday morning in Buchanan County Court Judge Keith Marquart raised bond to $100,000 for 36-year-old Scott L. Hollandsworth. Hollandsworth was charged last week in Buchanan County with a class B felony of voluntary manslaughter and a felony for armed criminal action in connection with the shooting death of Shawn M. Martin, 33 of St. Joseph. Bond was originally set in the amount of $50,000 on Dec. 10
According to court documents Hollandsworth got into a verbal altercation with Martin last Monday which turned physical.
“While the two subjects were in the physical altercation the suspect struck the victim in the head with an object,” Officer Greg Ogdahl with the St. Joseph Police Department said in a sworn probable cause statement. “While the two subjects were in the physical altercation the suspect struck the victim in the head with an object. The suspect then shot the victim at least one time causing fatal injuries to the victim.”
Hollandsworth turned himself into Riverside police custody two days after St. Joseph Police found Martin dead inside of the bathroom of the home located at 1519 Felix.
A counsel status hearing is set for Jan. 8 and a preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 15.
