“On January 8th, 2016, the Chillicothe Police Department received numerous phone calls from citizens advising they were contacted by phone by an unknown person representing an unknown Technical Support Agency,” the department said on Facebook. “The unknown person requested computer codes and personal information from the citizens, advising their computers had a virus.”
The department warns not to give any personal or computer information out to anyone over the phone.
“This is a SCAM,” the department warned.
The department advises anyone who may have fallen victim to this scam to contact their police department and monitor credit and banking information.
