A 37-year-old St. Joseph man is accused of raping a child under the age of 12 in his care.

Gordon M. Stone II was charged Friday with a felony for Statutory Rape in Buchanan County.  According to court documents, from Aug. 2014 to Oct. of 2015 Stone committed the act of statutory rape with a girl under the age of 12 multiple times.

“The defendant was responsible for the child’s care at the time of the sexual assault,” Officer Quentin Abbott with the St. Joseph Police Department said. “The defendant had sexual intercourse with the child victim multiple times over the course of several months.”

Stone is being held in the Buchanan County Jail on $25,000 bond. An arraignment is set for Tuesday.
