ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Kansas guard Wayne Selden Jr., has been named to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) midseason watch list for the 2016 Oscar Robertson Trophy, which recognizes the men’s national player of the year, the USBWA announced Monday.
Selden is one of 20 named to the Oscar Robertson Trophy midseason list. The USBWA, comprised of nearly 1,000 sports journalists covering college basketball for newspapers, magazines and websites, will select the recipient of the award.
Selden ranks third in the Big 12, eighth nationally, with a 48.5 3-point field goal percentage. The junior from Roxbury, Massachusetts averages 14.7 points per game, which is eighth in the conference, and is second in the league with 2.6 3-pointers made per game. Selden has four games of 20-plus points this season, including two in league play.
The Oscar Robertson Trophy will be presented at the College Basketball Awards gala in Oklahoma City on April 11, 2016, at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. Other awards being presented at the gala include the Wayman Tisdale Award (men’s national freshman of year) and the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award (women’s national player of the year).
