A Leavenworth man has claimed a $50,000 prize with ticket purchased from the Dearborn Trex Mart.
Kyle Jackson missed out on the $1.5 billion jackpot but managed to walk away with a chunk of change anyway.
Remembering that a 2012 Missouri Lottery Powerball ticket worth $293.7 million had been purchased at Trex Mart, 17605 Highway Z in Dearborn, Jackson asked his coworkers who live in Dearborn if they would mind purchasing some Powerball Quick Pick tickets from the retail location for him.
“I gave her $10, she bought five Powerballs on one ticket and brought it to me,” began Jackson, while claiming his $50,000 prize.
On Jan. 14, Jackson woke up to check the winning numbers, and, to his disbelief, the 47-year-old saw that he had matched the Powerball and four white balls on one of his plays.
“They said, ‘Good for you!’ They were pretty excited. Not only are they coworkers, but they’re close friends of mine,” continued the winner.
While claiming his prize, Jackson and his wife, Melissa, disclosed that they were looking forward to paying off debt with the $50,000 win, adding that some of the prize will likely be devoted to an upcoming birthday celebration for Jackson and friends.
