St. Joseph MuseumsThe St. Joseph Museums has been selected by the Board of the Missouri Humanities Council to receive the 2016 annual Exemplary Community Achievement Award.

The St. Joseph Museums said it was chosen in recognition of the extensive and wide-ranging educational programming they provide for their community. The awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, April 30 in St. Louis.

“The Exemplary Community Achievement award recognizes an individual or group who has made a special contribution to a community’s understanding of and support for humanities-related endeavors on the local or state level. This is a prestigious, competitive, and statewide recognition,” said Dr. William S. Belko, Executive Director of the Missouri Humanities Council.

The Missouri Humanities Council was founded in 1971 as an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. It works to foster connections between cultural organizations and humanities scholars, helping them to engage public audiences in dynamic ways that spark enthusiasm for learning that builds character, intellect, and understanding. The Missouri Humanities Council is the only state-wide agency in Missouri devoted exclusively to humanities education for citizens of all ages.
