She married Stanley Meade, a Baptist minister. They were married 63 years. Together, they ministered to several churches. She was never ordained as an associate pastor, but she should have been, because she served in every area of church life. Besides serving on many boards, she taught every age-group in the church. Very often she was called on to fill in on various ministries with no prior notice, but always managed to carry it off. Many people sought her out for counseling. She served as church secretary in several churches, and was a good organizer of many church programs, such as Bible school, ecumenical programs, etc. Music was a big part of her ministry. She had the ability to keep the melody while her husband sometimes played jazz background music for her. She taught in a pre-school for several years. She had a great green thumb which was obvious because of the many flowers she raised and nourished. She enjoyed serving her Lord, and family gatherings on holidays. During Norma’s battle with cancer, many friends and relatives came to see her. When visitors were leaving, there was one adjective that was usually heard: “sweet.” So, sweet Norma has gone to be with sweet Jesus.
