A fire on a Buchanan County Levee has been contained.
Mike Neylon with the St. Joseph Fire Department said at 1:30 p.m. the fire was mostly out.
“With wind and smokers it will reignite sometime before the next rain,” Neylon said.
Crews responded to a Levee just south of St. Joseph near 51st Road Friday morning. Neylon said the fire burned about 1/4 of a mile on the Levee.
He said there was no damage to a nearby home.
Multiple crews responded to the fire.
Buchanan County is under a Red Flag Warning for critical fire weather conditions until 5 p.m.
