Nell Irene Morris
1927-2016
Nell Irene Morris, 89, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Abbey Woods Nursing Home.
Nell was born February 1, 1927 in Randolph County, Alabama to James W. and Cordie L. (Sears) Yarbrough. She graduated from Albertville High School, Albertville, Alabama in 1945.
After graduation she went to work for the Army Department in Washington, D.C. for two years. She later met Leslie R. Morris, of St. Joseph, Missouri after his tour of duty in the service (Army).
They were married in Washington, D.C. June 14, 1947 and made St. Joseph their home. They celebrated 63 years and 10 months of marriage. Leslie passed away March 30, 2011 at age 91.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Maybell, Eunice, Jean and Annie; and brothers, Homer and Robert.
Survivors include: three children, Patricia Morris and Steven Morris, St. Joseph, and Carolyn (Timothy) McCraw of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; two grandsons, Kyle and Ben McCraw; sisters, Inez and Geri; and brother, Thomas; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Mary Alice Campbell, 89, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Mosaic Life Care.
She was born June 29, 1926 in King City, Missouri.
Mary Alice married Charles H. Campbell on April 15, 1946.
She was a member of Community Presbyterian Church, United Presbyterian Women and was a Telephone Pioneer Partner.
Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Iva (Gibson) Smith; husband; one sister; and two brothers.
Survivors include three children, Dennis Campbell (Deb), St. Joseph, Missouri, Don Campbell (Kathy), St Joseph, Missouri and Angela Prawl (Tim), Stewartsville, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Matt, Alison, Paul, Laura, Lance, Drew and Makenzie; and ten great- grandchildren.

Joseph M. “Joe” Frakes, 89, Atchison, Kansas died Thursday, March 3, 2016 at his residence.
Services will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Harter officiating. Private family inurnment will be held in West Lawn Cemetery, DeKalb, Missouri. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, March 8th from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Noyes Home for Children, St. Joseph, Missouri and may be left in care of the funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Elaine Frakes, four daughters, Joetta Smith, Paula Wohlgemuth, Rita Frakes and Sara Lund, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Roger L. Warthman, 75, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 14, 1940 in Salina, Kansas.
He was a graduate of Lafayette High School Class of 1958. During his younger years he worked at Wonder Bread Bakery. He later worked at Wire rope and eventually owned and operated St. Joseph Construction.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vern and Nina (Lewis) Warthman; great-grandson, Michael; and wife, Marie.
Survivors include children, John Warthman, James Warthman, Janie Warthman, and Karen Warthman; wife, Frances Scarlata; grandchildren, Aimee, Brandon, Alex, Kevin, Kiana, and Adam; great-grandchildren, Malia, Kailyn, and Kayla; cousin, Jim McCrary; and extended family and friends.

Constance (Connie) Elaine Vavra 80, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Sunday March 6, 2016 at a Saint Joseph health care center. She was born August 12, 1935 in St. Joseph, Missouri, daughter of Edna & Marvin Goodman. She graduated from Benton High School class of 1953, then from the St. Joseph Beauty Academy, and worked at Wards Beauty Shop as a Beautician. She enjoyed sun bathing, yard work, gardening, camping and bowling, and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. Connie was preceded in death by her parents, and her daughter, Denise Moore Shanks. Survivors include two daughters, Amy (J.C.) Stone of Saint Joseph, and Reagene Vavra of Bali, and a son, Christopher Vavra of St. Joseph, MO, 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, two sisters, Janice Goodman-Daily (Bill) of Saint Joseph, MO, and Kay Goodman of Willard, MO. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 26, 2016 with a memorial service to follow at 3:00PM at the Rupp Funeral Home.

1953-2016
Manuel Joseph Salcedo Sr. 62, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Sunday March 6, 2016. He was born May 26, 1953 in St. Joseph, Missouri He was preceded in death by: daughter, Mary Salcedo, father; Louis, mother; Loretta, brother, Phillip. Survivors include children; Manuel II, Tarri, Daniel, Jessica, Julio, Maria, Jesse, Brenda, Kristy, and Cayden Salcedo. 29 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, brothers and sisters; Louis, Marty, and Alex, Angelina, Rosemary, and Theodora. He loved to play his guitar and harmonica, and spend time with his friends and family. He will be dearly missed by he knew and greeted warmly by those waiting from him on the other side. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Thursday at the Rupp Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 pm at the Rupp Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the Manuel J Salcedo memorial fund in care of the Rupp Funeral Home.
P. Douglas “Doug” Carson
1968-2016
After 6 years of courageously fighting Nash liver disease, Doug of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2016 at University of Nebraska Hospital in Omaha. He was surrounded by his loving devoted family.
Doug was born in St. Joseph on June 18, 1968 to Paul and Marilyn Carson. On July 7, 1995, he married Kerry Bradford. They have two children, Cameron and Kennedy.
Doug graduated from Lafayette High School and attended Missouri Western State University. He was a computer geek long before computer geeks were cool. He began his career at Hawkins Ash Baptie, continued at Gateway and his remaining working years were at Heartland Hospital.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of St. Joseph. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and dog, London. Until his health no longer permitted, he invested many hours with his daughter’s softball.
In addition to his wife, children, and parents, he is survived by sister, Meredith McDonald (David); mother-in-law, Sharon Koranda (Bob); father-in-law, Melvin Bradford (Sharon); sister-in-law, Shelly Dreier (Tim); brother-in-law, Chad Bradford (Stacey); step-sister-in-law, Karli Urban (Michael); and nephews, Matthew McDonald, Dalton Dreier, Colby and Cade Bradford; niece, Elise Urban; Grandma Betty; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Frank and Lillian Gilliland and Harry and Faye Carson.
