A Holton man was arrested Tuesday in connection with the murder of his wife last year in northeast Kansas.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said George E. Fleshman Jr., 66 was arrested Tuesday morning at his home in Holton for second-degree murder.

Sheriff Tim Morse said in a news release that Fleshman is suspected to be allegedly involved in the murder of his wife, Elizabeth Jane Fleshman, 62 of Holton.

The Department said on October 20, 2015 just after 9:30 p.m. George made a 911 call and informed dispatchers that he had found his wife unresponsive. Elizabeth was taken by EMS to the Holton Community Hospital and later to St. Francis Hospital in Topeka where she died the next day.

“The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation into Elizabeth Fleshman’s death due to suspicious circumstances,” Morse said. “An autopsy was performed on Elizabeth Fleshman’s body by Frontier Forensics in Kansas City, Kansas. The autopsy results indicate Mrs. Fleshman expired due to trauma to the spleen.”

The Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant on Fleshman’s residence Tuesday morning.

George has been booked into the Jackson County Jail for 2nd degree murder. Bond is pending at this time.
