Buchanan County voters head to the polls – 3 p.m. turnout 22%

voteBuchanan County Clerk Mary Baack-Garvey still anticipates at 40% turnout for Tuesday’s Presidential Preference Primary.

As of 3 p.m. Tuesday around 22% of registered voters in Buchanan County had cast a ballot. At 4 p.m. Baack-Garvey said she still thinks voter turnout will hit the 40% range.

“These last hours are when people leave work and it will be busy,” Baack-Garvey said.

Missouri is one of five states choosing a Republican or Democratic candidate they want to vie for the White House in the November election. The other contests Tuesday are in Illinois, Ohio, North Carolina and Florida.

Polls close tonight at 7.
