Daniel O. Smith
1940-2016
He was born January 12, 1940 at Wamego, the son of Oliver and Donis Grafton Smith. He graduated from Onaga High School in 1958.
Dan had served in the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard. He served in Viet Nam and later was a Union Laborer out of Manhattan.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Onaga, Onaga V.F.W. Post No. 7772 and the Laborers Union in Manhattan.
Dan married Marilyn Labbe on March 18, 1988 at Westmoreland. She survives, of the home.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Mike Smith.
Other survivors include two daughters, Lisa McClain (Mike), Havensville, and Joyce Shively (Aaron), Burlington; one son, Steve McCormick (Kathy), Maple Hill; a brother, David Smith (Clara), Baldwin City; one sister, Mary Schust (Jay), Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Ashlea Magnett, Mollea Magnett, Macy Magnett, Whitnea Magnett, Matt McClain, Desire Goodell (Levi), and Bonnie Shively, and great grandsons, Cameron Boyer and Nash Goodell.
Per Dan’s wishes, cremation is planned and private family services will be at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Onaga Alumni Association, in honor of the Class of 1958, and may be sent in care of the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, P.O. Box 312, Onaga, 66521.
JoAnn Frakes
1934-2016
JoAnn Frakes 82, of Elwood, Kansas, passed away Monday, March 28, 2016 at her home. She was born February 28, 1934 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of Thelma and Clarence Schommer. She graduated from Benton high school and was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and crafts. JoAnn was preceded in death by husband, Robert Neal Frakes Sr., her parents, a grandchild and a great great grandchild. Survivors include, sons, Robert Neal Frakes Jr., Girard W. (Theresa) Frakes of St. Joseph, MO, Brion L. (Connie) Frakes of Trimble, MO, Ben (Michelle) Frakes, of St. Petersburg, FL, and daughter, Melanie (Don) Cherven of Littleton, CO. 11, grandchildren, 15, great grandchildren, two sisters, Judy Smith of St. Joseph, MO, sister, Sharon Wakefield of Oklahoma as well as numerous, nieces & nephews.

James C. Bromley, 82, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Monday, March 28, 2016 at Mosaic Life Care.
He was born August 5, 1933 in Daviess County, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Gladys Bromley; and grandsons, Charles Schroff and Bobby Bromley.
Survivors include sons, Jimmy Bromley, St. Joseph, Missouri and Bobby Bromley (Linda), Union Star, Missouri; daughters, Brenda Schroff, St. Joseph, Missouri and Paula Bromley, St. Joseph, Missouri; grandchildren, Cristy Throckmorton (Barry), Megan Augustine (Travis) and Nathan Bromley; and brothers, Bob (Pat) and Everett Bromley (Nancy).

Mary Jane McClelland
1937-2016
Mary Jane McClelland, 79, Plattsburg, Missouri passed away Monday, March 28, 2016.
She was born January 1, 1937 in St. Joseph, Missouri and was a graduate of Lathrop High School. Mary Jane managed the Modern Cleaners in Plattsburg, Missouri.
She married Bob McClelland on July 12, 1956. He preceded her in death on February 14, 1993.
Mary Jane was also preceded in death by her parents, William and Eva (Grady) Brennan; granddaughter, Michaela McClelland; one great-granddaughter, Abbie; and brother, Mike Brennan.
Survivors include daughter, Cindy Carter, Plattsburg, Missouri; son, Michael McClelland, Plattsburg, Missouri; grandsons, Michael Cole McClelland (Brandi) and Derek Carter; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Bill Brennan (Billie); and sister-in-law, Janet Brennan.
