Candidate filing to run for Congress, the state Legislature and statewide offices in Missouri is now over. The secretary of state’s office says almost 500 candidates filed to run for various offices or judgeships by Tuesday’s deadline.
Candidates include four Republicans vying to replace term-limited Democratic Governor Jay Nixon. The primary is August 2nd. The general election is November 8th.
Sixth District Missouri Congressman Sam Graves faces challenges from two Republicans in the primary election August 2nd. They are Kyle Reid of Louisiana, Missouri and Christopher Ryan of Liberty.
Five Democrats have filed as candidates to represent Northern Missouri in the US House. They are Travis Gonzalez of Trenton, Edward Dwayne Fields of Kansas City, David Blackwell of Smithville, Kyle Yarber of Gladstone and Matthew McNabney of Kansas City. Russ Lee Monchil of Cameron has filed as a candidate for the Libertarian Party. The deadline to file was yesterday.
