Fire caused extensive damage and displaced a family of four in Midtown St. Joseph early Thursday morning. Crews responded to the home in the 1600 block of South 17th Street, where they found the family safely evacuated.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no injuries, but the house was destroyed.

Crews had trouble with at least one fire hydrant, and some neighbors in the area reported losing electrical power after the fire was put out.
