The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office is warning area residents of scammers claiming to be selling ads for basketball sectionals.

According to the department school Resource Officer/Deputy Sheriff Mike Lewis has investigated a call from a local business in Chillicothe that received a phone solicitation from a person claiming to be selling ads for Chillicothe Schools and the Chillicothe Basketball Sectionals.

Deputy Lewis said this call was a scam regarding representing Chillicothe Schools and the basketball sectionals. The caller was wanting to sell business ads for $400.

Sheriff Steve Cox is advising anyone who receives such a call to report any number to local law enforcement and do not become a crime victim.
